Woman abuse is one of the biggest social issue in today’s generation. It is usually defined as the use of psychological, physical or sexual force, actual or threatened, in an intimate relationship. It is also considered to be a repeated behavior which is intended to hurt someone. In addition, it affects many people in all ages. Violence is used to intimidate, humiliate or frighten victims, to make them feel powerless or inferior.
This problem takes place all around the world, it can happen anytime, anywhere. Abuse greatly affects the emotional and psychological well-being of a person, it chooses no boundaries which makes the victim more vulnerable and exposed to any attack, harm, or damage. Furthermore, this issue is not temporary to a person’s life for this can leave a mark and will be remembered in their whole existence. Moreover, the effect of continuous abuse will further downgrade a person’s confidence or esteem and eventually the respect they have for themselves. Most woman who were abused limits their capability to fight back due to the presence of great fear. They eventually lose hope and are scared to ask for help because of the shame and embarrassment of what they have experienced.
According to statistics regarding domestic violence, nearly 1 out of 4 women have experienced violence by a spouse or a boyfriend. Furthermore, there are 7 million children who lives in families in which severe partner violence occurred. And lastly, there is a fact that on average, almost 500 women are raped or sexually assaulted each day in just one country. This greatly projects that every individual is a potential victim to such violence; everyone can be a victim if no one will do something to stop and campaign against abuse. Let us build a future without violence, a place where everybody has an equal right. A place where everybody is respected, valued and be treated as an equal.
