There are many effects that abuse brings to the victim. The damage of violence mostly affects the psychological, emotional, and physical aspect of an individual. To start with, an abused person is prone to committing suicide; they may experience deep depression and anxiety due to the continuous pain inflicted on them. Secondly, humiliation and physical attacks can cause a long term emotional damage to a person. Abuse is an attempt to instill fear and self-loathing; abusive people often plunder the control of their victims so to feel dominant and to gain power over something. In return, victims of abuse develop a protracted feeling of rage and resentment not only to their partner but also to the people surrounding them.
Persons who were severely affected by abuse acquires a negative and cynical perception which occasionally pushes them to seek for revenge and to also inflict pain towards others. They are emotionally disturbed, giving them the desire of being abusers themselves, in order to gain back the supremacy they have lost. Being publicly embarrassed also impose an interpersonal difficulty to victims that includes fear and avoidance to new social situations. Victims fear and detest the possibility of again feeling hopeless and helpless while being assaulted. Furthermore, they are also overly sensitive that they avoid mingling with others. For them, by avoiding the society, they also avoid being hurt again. This emotional avoidance victims instill to themselves, increases their tendency to be loners and inferiors. Victims who are emotionally disturbed, have self-esteem problems and trust issues. Victims, thus believe that they are outcasts and outsiders, beaten and tortured to ruin their identity and confidence to the extent of depression and isolation.
When encountering a statement about the effects of violence or abuse, most people would then think of its psychological effects. This is because some individuals tend to commit suicide or stray away from their right paths when they are always being harmed wherein, as most people believe, is connected to their mentality and emotions. What others do not know is that abuse can take its toll on the physical aspect of individuals. Physical abuse can take any forms. Physical effects of abuse are quite the most common since it is interrelated with the person’s emotional and mental aspect. When a person is not mentally and emotionally healthy, he or she may ignore his or her bodily complaints due to the inner numbness that they feel. Moreover, when a person’s mind is in disarray, his or her mental health is not the only one affected but also his or her bodily health. A negative change in the emotional and mental aspect can lead to physical deterioration of a person. Their health can deteriorate due to lack of attention to oneself. Furthermore, mentally hurt individuals can hurt themselves by attempting suicides.
